Grace Healthcare Services Corp made medical mission trips to Haiti and Nicaragua, pre-pandemic.  The pandemic had some impact, but the geopolitical climate is the biggest factor is our inability to continue the trips and even to support University of Haiti medical students coming to Gainesville for an externship in emergency medicine – an effort through the UF Department of Emergency Medicine/ Section of Global Health/Global Emergency Medicine, under the direction of Dr Torben Becker.  In January, 2025, when Dr Harvey Rohlwing (Grace Healthcare Co-Founder & President, asked Dr Becker about prospective (2025) University of Haiti medical students, Dr Becker replied, “No, we are not anticipating any students this year.  Nobody has been able to get a visa.  Our partner hospital was attacked and burned down by gangs last month.”
